Epoch's Original Logo: Much More Than an Ambigram

Today we want to pay homage to our original logo and the artist who first breathed life into our brand name.  This bold interpretation of Epoch was created by Steve Koloskus, a dear friend of our (the Armstrong) family, in 2006.  Though we loved (and still love) this logo, we were eventually pulled in a different, more colorful direction.  Had Dan Brown not been so prolific in the late-to-mid 2000’s with his books, Angels and Demons and The DaVinci Code, and made the Ambigram* such a commonplace form of expression, we very well might have kept this original design.  Alas, we felt that the Ambigram was too trendy, so we called Chuck House, a famous Napa label maker, and the rest is history (there is a good story there too, but we’ll save that for another day).  About two months ago, this Ambigram’s author and our friend, Steve, lost his battle to cancer, and he tragically passed away.  Every time we see this logo (one we will always cherish, as it defined the beginning of our Epoch journey), we will remember Steve, his kind heart, and his creative spirit.  Thank you, Steve, for your friendship and important contirbution to the Epoch story!

* An ambigram is a word, art form or other symbolic representation, whose elements retain meaning when viewed or interpreted from a different direction, perspective, or orientation.
